Indianapolis, Indiana –  August 28, 2007 – Members of the Department of Local Government Finance
(DLGF), the Legislative Service Agency (LSA), and State legislature will participate in a conference aimed at improving the efficiency of county and township tax assessing through the use of technology.

Hosted by DoxTek, the conference will provide a forum, through panel discussions with government officials and technology providers, to discuss the submission of accurate and timely tax data to the state from county assessors.

Barry Wood, DLGF’s director of assessments, will open the conference by speaking with assessors about state tax software certification and the status of assessment data. “I am very excited to address our assessors during this conference. It will be an excellent forum for discussing important tax assessment processes,” said Wood.

State Rep. Peggy Welch (D-Bloomington) and Bob Sigalow, fiscal analyst for the LSA, will field questions from assessors during a panel discussion about current county legislative changes and tax assessing policies.

The conference will also provide assessors with training opportunities to improve the efficiencies of tax assessing through electronic document technologies.
